ABOUT About Shailaja (Shyla) Subramanian I am a registered Yoga Alliance Teacher with the designation of E-RYT 200. I received my training from Shambhavananda School of Yoga in the beautiful mountains of Boulder, Colorado. I firmly believe in yoga's healing benefits and intend to share this gift with as many people as possible to help them through their journey. Currently, I teach private yoga classes for individuals. Private sessions include learning Hatha Yoga with a choice of flow (Gentle flow and/or Vinyasa flow). Sessions also include pranayama(breathing techniques) at the beginning of the class. Classes comprise a set of asanas designed to align the body and facilitate energy channels. Classes are designed to meet all levels of students and are personalized to each student's preferences . Come and explore the basic postures with alignment and the role of breathing techniques! What is Hatha Yoga? Hatha Yoga is a term that refers to a type of yoga that teaches physical postures coupled with breathing. The word “hatha” means force, and is derived from Sanskrit words “ha” and "tha". "Ha" means the sun and “tha” means the moon. The word yoga is derived from a Sanskrit word “yuj” which means to ‘bind’ and is interpreted as a “method of discipline”. The practice of Hatha Yoga helps us focus on our breathing patterns, maintain steady balance and promotes stillness in mind. Therefore, this practice of Hatha Yoga brings peace to the mind and body, preparing the body for the deeper spiritual meditational practices. Hatha Gentle Flow Gentle yoga includes working on each pose in a structured and independant way without any excess strain to the stretched muscles or joints. Perfect flow for anyone new to yoga or wants a gentle stretch. This flow will connect you body, mind and breath. Chair Yoga Chair yoga is a fun set of poses that you can do from the comfort of your own chair. You will experience deep, rhythmic breathing accompanied by simple stretches in a safe and comfortable setting. This class is great for older adults and anybody dealing with injuries and decreased mobility. Hatha with Vinyasa Vinyasa is a dynamic style of Hatha yoga joining each physical postures with inhalation and exhalation, creating a synchronization for the practice. Vinyasa cultivates heat in the body and is best used in warm-ups and sun salutation sequences. Yoga for Kids and Teens This flow is specifically designed for kids helping them relax,staying fit, keeping focused, and developing their autonomy. For teen yoga workshops please contact me.
